Mourlonet Rose

I found myself standing on the front porch of an elegant manor with a family friend and the echoes of hooves and screaming. Doesn't sound like one of the best days of my life, but every sound, every anxious wave of uncertainty, all melted away when I looked into her eyes. Intimidating and unchallengeable. Even the thunder of hooves and the wildest storm would calm at their gaze. I couldn't tell what she was thinking or where I was going to end up, but I trusted her and those dark eyes reflecting rumors and expectations. The manor became familiar, the sprawling field of grapes reminded me of home, the hooves softened, and though my last familiar face walked away that morning, I knew I was going to be okay.
