Political and government allegiances and norms continue to change. Master Spy Elda Ainsworth is hunted by a mysterious black ops team with ties to the United States government. A patriot to her core, but no longer part of US intelligence, she works to rebuild her team headquarters outside of the United States, while retaining a presence within the US.Ed Wilson, Elda's ex-boss in the US government, is pursued by and taken by the black ops agents. Ed displays his mettle and escapes, killing one of them. Elda helps spirit Ed out of the country with the help of her team members, Olga Sokolov and Charlie Burlamachi flying a charter plane to Canada. There, Elda enlists Ashok's uncle Gupta to take Ed the rest of the way to Italy.Elda's Cold War nemesis, Tosh Chelovek, is missing, presumed dead. The Kremlin has issued a hit order on his team. Anatoly Petrov and Snezhana Chelovek race across Moscow, evading and eliminating assassins.Tosh surfaces in Italy and asks Elda to help rescue his agents. Elda and Tosh employ Cold War techniques of cyphers and disguises, combined with modern high-tech communication, to rescue Anatoly and Snezhana and smuggle them out of Russia.Estranged from his mother country, Tosh joins forces with Elda to rebalance the odds and to do what is right for their countries. Elda and Tosh train and empower their team members to be prepared for a time when the team's two mentors may no longer be with them. Their agents are imbued with techniques from the Cold War, combined with high technology apps and robotics.The spies struggle to find the ethics within a world that appears to be driven by avarice instead of patriotism. Each individual works to combine newly endowed individual empowerment and watching each other's six. This new organization kicks off Operation Potlatch, a mission to help distribute the wealth and encourage balance and fairness.Elda expands the footprint of her organization with two additional companies, Security Solutions and NewsSource4U, LTD. These help provide additional cover while contributing to the fight against disinformation and electronic warfare.
