The first title in the Morvain Series, welcome to the very beginning. Before King Osric tore his way through the kingdom, before there was Kael, there was the would be Queen Helena and her partner Alaric. The king is dead, the lords are fighting for power and everyone is looking to Helena to save them. Refugees are trying to flood the castle as Lords are fleeing left and right, hoping to get into the castle in a desperate bid to escape her mad Uncle, vying for power anyway he can. His only goal, his purpose, is to kill Helena and steal the castle for himself. Can Alaric protect Helena? Is he really the man he says he is?
