MONTESSORI EARLY CHILDHOOD * EDUCATION (3Y-6Y) - Module-05: Assignment

Module-5 of Montessori Early Childhood Education focuses on the development of mathematical understanding in children aged three to six years. This module introduces mathematics through concrete learning experiences, allowing children to explore numbers and mathematical concepts using hands-on materials. Following the Montessori philosophy developed by Maria Montessori, children first learn through movement, touch, observation, and repetition before moving toward abstract thinking. The module explains the importance of preparing the mathematical mind through sensorial experiences, concentration, order, and independence. Children are introduced to basic mathematical concepts such as number recognition, quantity association, counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through specially designed Montessori materials. These materials include Number Rods, Sandpaper Numerals, Spindle Boxes, Golden Beads, Bead Bars, and various operation boards. Finally, Module-5 emphasizes that mathematics should be experienced as meaningful, enjoyable, and connected to real life.
