Records on Vinyl The most important album in the history of modern jazz, Kind of Blue combines the talents of bandleader/trumpeter Miles Davis (who composed and arranged the majority of songs on the LP), with those of tenor saxophonist John Coltrane, alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, pianist Bill Evans (who also had a hand in arranging and writing), bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Jimmy Cobb. This definitive release compiles the original Kind of Blue LP in a 180-gram virgin vinyl gatefold edition, illustrated with photos by Jean-Pierre Leloir, the complete CD containing the aforementioned album plus 4 bonus tracks, and a 92-page fully-illustrated hardcover book, in which writer BRIAN MORTON explores the genesis of the legendary album. Co-author, with Richard Cook, of The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings, Morton is also the author of The Blackwell Guide to Recorded Contemporary Music (1996), a frequent contributor to Jazz Review, and a collaborator with the BBC. The book also includes dozens of classic, rare and never before published photos by such important jazz photographers as Jean-Pierre Leloir, Robert W. Kelley, Herb Snitzer, Marvin Koner, and David Redfern, among many others.
