Miles Ahead of Us

Miles Ahead of Us is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi that begins in Iraq in the early 2000's. Lula Searcy is a soldier deployed there with her K-9 counterpart, Jager. She is wrecked by the guilt of leaving her sister Pim behind in New Mexico. Before she can make it home, the world is met with a global apocalyptic event. Meteors crash across the earth's surface radiating an unseen airborne microbe that turns 98% of the world's population into horrifying creatures.The unlucky victims of this blight grow a parasite on their neck that kills them and now controls their corpse. They roam and hunt trying to eradicate any survivors. Glowing eyes, sharp claws, they stalk the night and rest during the day. Lula is handed a mission to escort a surviving Iraqi woman named Amani who is invisible to the creatures back to the United States to uncover her mystery. She will have help from others, but if they fail, the world will fall into eventual human extinction, and she will never find out the fate of her sister.
