Microstrip Patch Antennas for Mimo Systems

This book introduces reproducible workflows for designing, simulating and validating microstrip¿patch MIMO antennas, integrating electromagnetic theory, simulation methods and laboratory exercises.Part I covers fundamentals of SISO/SIMO/MISO/MIMO systems. It points out that impedance matching alone cannot guarantee good MIMO performance; radiation efficiency, embedded patterns and port correlation are equally vital. Core antenna parameters, microstrip transmission¿line principles and various feeding schemes are explained, with analytical results treated only as starting points for full¿wave verification.Part II addresses patch¿antenna implementation. It covers single¿polarised patch design, solver comparisons, simulation standards, dual¿polarised twöport¿patch evaluation and DGS decoupling technology. Dumbbell¿shaped DGS reduces port mutual coupling yet brings trade¿offs in bandwidth and efficiency.Part III investigates MIMO arrays, explaining array¿factor theory, beam¿steering, grating lobes and pattern definitions.
