Michaelina Wautier (1604–1689) is the focus of a new monograph that gathers the latest scholarship and presents several new attributions. The book explores the surviving portraits, history paintings, genre scenes and still-lifes that can be identified as her work. Born in Mons, Wautier pursued a successful career in Brussels, under Archduke Leopold Wilhelm, whose collection later formed part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

Produced by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in collaboration with the Royal Academy, the volume brings together contemporary research and newly proposed attributions, enriching our understanding of the artist’s oeuvre. The publication, dated 30 September 2025, is issued in a hardcover edition by the Royal Academy. The work highlights how the artist’s reputation has been reconsidered through recent scholarship and examination of her surviving works.

De catalogue/boek wordt geprezen om de uitstekende kwaliteit van de schilderijenpresentatie en de vele kleurillustraties, met zorgvuldig gekozen details die de lezer helpen de werken beter te begrijpen.
