Memories of Rue Bourbon

In this story, a group of unlikely companions gathers at Château Bourbon-a designer, an artist, a jazz singer, a college student, and a welder. As Hurricane Ida approaches, they face a force of nature few have ever experienced. Stranded together, unprepared and afraid, they must confront not only the storm outside, but the uncertainties stirring within themselves. Each carries a story, a fear, and a way of coping as the winds begin to rise. New Orleans is my city. I grew up just a few miles from the French Quarter and treasured every moment spent wandering its vibrant streets. In the 1980s, while working on my book Tales of the Big Easy at a small restaurant on Chartres Street, I had a brief, unforgettable encounter with Tennessee Williams. As he was leaving, he paused, patted my arm, and said, "Hang in there. All it takes is time and work." That advice has stayed with me ever since.Now, I share with you one of the greatest gifts of my life-the people, places, and stories that have shaped my world.
