Medousa

In the Temple of Pallas Athena outside Tiryns, Medousa-a sworn priestess who has kept every vow-is violated by Poseidon beneath the gaze of the goddess she trusted. When Athena does not answer, the city does what cities do: it turns the wounded woman into accusation, contagion, spectacle, and sentence.Surrounded by her sisters and a chorus of women already cast out and renamed by men, Medousa refuses to carry a god's crime so that the city may preserve its order. As rumor becomes law and dawn approaches, a young man trained to become her executioner must decide whether obedience is courage-or merely another form of fear.Medousa is a new tragedy about sacred institutions, public blame, sexual violence, survival, and the stories power tells after it has failed the people who trusted it. Written as one continuous ritual action, the play combines myth, chorus, theatrical image, and fierce contemporary language in a reimagining of the Medusa story centered on witness, refusal, and consequence.
