When Òdòdó, a blacksmith in the recently-conquered Timbuktu, is abducted to become the wife of the Yorùbá warrior king, her life is turned upside down. As she uncovers schemes and enemies hidden in plain sight, she realises she must re-forge the shaky loyalties of the court in her favor, or risk losing everything—including her life.
