Maritime Xinglin Treasures

This book features 75 works of calligraphy and painting by renowned physicians and masters from various dynasties, selected from the collections of the Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Museum of Medical History of the Chinese Medical Association. The works are divided into three sections: paintings, calligraphy, and rubbings. This collection reflects, from one perspective, the artistic attainment and literary cultivation of these celebrated physicians and masters. Traditional Chinese medicine and calligraphy and painting-both treasures of traditional Chinese culture-share common intrinsic qualities. The medical achievements of renowned TCM physicians are inseparable from their profound cultural literacy. Research on these calligraphic and painted cultural relics not only reveals their medical, historical, and cultural value but also objectively and concretely corroborates the development and historical accomplishments of traditional Chinese medicine. In doing so, it helps promote traditional Chinese medicine culture, disseminate TCM scientific knowledge, and showcase the long history of TCM.
