Marie-Josèphe Angélique hanged - burned - cast to the windMarie-Josèphe resented her bondage and was labelled as rebellious. It was not uncommon to see her fiery temper, stubbornness and headstrong personality; all too often she spoke out against her masters. This is her story - a woman enslaved at birth. >Much of Marie-Josèphe's life is not exactly known until the time she was taken to Montréal. Born 1705 and transported across the Atlantic at the age of 16, she was sold in New England. In 1725, at the age of 20, she was sold once again and taken to Montréal.
