Bol Urban management is a complex and worrying process for all countries. African cities, by their very nature, face enormous social, economic and political challenges, as well as challenges in terms of administration and basic social services and infrastructure facilities. This situation is a cause for concern for the many stakeholders who are constantly searching for appropriate urban strategies to achieve the harmonious development of African cities. How are large African cities managed? The main objective of this study is to analyse the management methods of major African cities by the various urban development actors. We have put forward a main hypothesis according to which the management methods of major African cities are more oriented towards summary and sectoral urban planning policies and plans that do not consolidate the promotion of a sustainable African city. The methodology consisted of a literature review on African cities in general and the collection of primary data using interview guides and an individual questionnaire on the city of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso.
