At Grace Community Church, the prayer chain is supposed to be a sacred network of support. In reality, it has become the fastest, most detailed, least reliable news source in town. When Maggie Bell, a sharp, organized, slightly overextended woman with a low tolerance for nonsense, takes over the prayer chain, she decides to reform it into an actual care ministry. The problem? People were much more comfortable talking about broken marriages, sick relatives, job losses, bad plumbing, and suspicious casseroles than actually showing up to help. Maggie's reform efforts put her directly at odds with Caleb Brooks, a quiet handyman and widower who has been secretly fixing people's houses, cars, porches, and water heaters for years without wanting recognition.
