Lord, Teach Us to Pray

This book takes a close look at the prayer called The Lord's Prayer. Each part of the prayer will be examined relative to what Jesus taught His disciples about how to pray. The Lord's Prayer is a wonderful example of how to pray in harmony with God's will. The disciples walked with Jesus every day and saw Him heal the sick, perform miracles, multiply food, and turn water into wine, but they longed to learn how to pray. They came to Him in Luke 11:1 and ask Him, "Lord, teach us to pray." They understood that prayer, coupled with relationship with the Father and leading of the Holy Spirit, was the source of Jesus' power and God's presence. Lord, Teach Us to Pray outlines key principles based on Jesus' prayer model, often called the Lord's Prayer. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, and He provided a prayer model in response. This book examines each part of that model to enhance our understanding of effective prayer following Jesus' teachings. God's Word about prayer will be explored, as well as stories and testimonies from others to help strengthen your faith and trust in prayer. Prayer is such an important topic. When we pray consistently, as emphasized in God's Word and shown by Jesus, it can truly move mountains! Our world needs a praying and confident church. There is no quick formula to become a person of strong faith and prayer. However, God's Word provides principles that can help you grow in faith and prayer. Jesus promised, "Ask, and it will be given to you." He wants both you and me to be confident in our requests. Jesus invites us to journey with Him into a life of bold faith, believing in the impossible and making a difference in our world through prayer. The model and principles Jesus gave the early disciples when asked the question how to pray, is an excellent starting place to grow in the ministry of prayer and intercession. This book will aid you and others in your journey with Christ to become a person of great faith, prayer, and communion with God.
