Loquiian, The Alacritous Fox

Sometimes our destiny is more than we are able to withstand. Yet afterwards, we are more than we thought ourselves to be.Loquilian, The Alacritous Fox is a visionary novel about wizards, written for adult readers of literary fantasy and wisdom literature. Set in a parallel world long ago, it tells of the journeys of the fox alchemist Loquilian and his companions on their quest for wisdom and self-mastery. It is lyrical and original, mixed with humour and adventure. Here are some snippets: "Then-and woah this was the beautiful part-I suddenly rose above the clouds and the Sun shone brilliant before me, brightening the tops of all the clouds, thousands of cloud-peaks and cloud-troughs etched in golden light, glowing before me as far as I could see." Who is the hunter and who is the hunted? The designs of the world are never so clear. To the south was the ancient kingdom of Auriquant, now mostly ruins, though with many hermitages and small towns spread about its temperate meadowland, which is abundant in lakes and clusters of forest. Change always comes at the time appointed. Its ripeness cannot be avoided. "There's much afoot it seems, in the undersong about our journeys," said Sainell-nairè.Loquilian's attention was pricked. "Undersong? What do you mean?""It's a word to describe the song of the undersoul. Now that's another word not everyone knows, so let me clear it all up." And at that Sainell-nairè did something unusual-he stepped into the fire, crushing a burnt-through ashen log, then stepped again to the other side of the fire and sat down facing it, with a completely natural, cheerful expression on his face. "Come you two, let us talk around this nice round fire."Loquilian sensed something magical was being worked, and was curious, so came to the fire and sat on the right of Sainell-nairè.
