Bol Longevity: What It's Like to Get There is a deeply personal reflection on aging, written not from theory, but from lived experience. At 96 years old, Douglas M. Gebbie offers a rare and honest perspective on the physical, emotional, and practical challenges that accompany advanced age. Unlike many books on aging written by younger authors or observers, this work speaks from within the experience itself-addressing loss, adaptation, resilience, and the quiet adjustments required as the years progress. With clarity, humility, and insight shaped by both a long medical career and a long life, Gebbie reflects on what it means to continue living fully while navigating the limitations of aging. This book is not a manual, nor a lament, but a thoughtful companion for readers seeking understanding, perspective, and reassurance about growing older-from someone who is truly already there. About the AuthorDouglas M. Gebbie is a graduate in medicine from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. After serving in the Royal Navy, he emigrated to Canada, where he worked for a year in Northern Newfoundland. He later moved to Ontario and practiced as a general practitioner before returning to school to specialize in anesthesiology. His career took him to Toronto and later to Cincinnati, Ohio. Now retired, he lives in Florida, where he continues to write and reflect on life, medicine, and aging from the perspective of lived experience.
