Linguistic Communication Strategies and Hausa Social Requests

The book show cases the intellectual process in functional linguistics with particular references to the concept in communication strategies, their down-to-earth definitions and various but context-based communicative situations in which the strategies are realized in request making using well-formed expression in the Hausa language. Use of strategies such as Convergences, Divergence, Endearment, Slangs, Assertion of Common Grounds, Presuppositions and Optimism through copious Hausa sentences in formed by the author's twin backgrounds in the Hausa language as both mother tongue and a professional academic enterprise. The tact explanation and application of aspects of being conventionally indirect, use of hedges, minimization of imposition and some degrees of defence is contextually based communicative interactions are just enough to make the book a companion to students of language and linguistics in an African setting.
