My name is Marsha Wells, and at 83 years of age, I can look back on a lifetime filled with experiences, challenges, lessons, accomplishments, and memories that have shaped the woman I am today. I have learned that life is a journey, and every experience both good and difficult has something to teach us.I pray that my children, their children, and generations to come will be able to live free in our beautiful country and have the same opportunities that our country allows us.I am grateful to all my family and friends for their support over the years. I have always seemed to be very independent and, at times, honest to a fault. I am a Gemini, which makes a person follow many pathways to achieve their goals. I guess being a woman was somewhat of a problem in what some say is a man's world, but I kept going on my way of life and doing the best I could.Women need to know that whatever goes on in your home is important, and learning to do things most women wouldn't do is what makes for a strong woman. We are survivors, and we shouldn't wait for someone else to do things for us. We watch, observe, learn, and figure out how to keep going and doing what needs to be done.Over the years, I have worked side by side with my husbands, shingling roofs, painting, cutting lawns, and doing so much more. It has always been a 50/50 working relationship, and I believe that is what makes life together much more enjoyable. Now, being in my 80s, I am grateful that we took vacations during our younger years and later had the opportunity to go to college. Dudley and I earned our degrees with honors. I believe older students can be better students because they take education more seriously and truly enjoy the experience. We achieved two degrees with honors while also enjoying the experience of raising our children.Looking back over my 83 years, I realize just how much life has given me to be thankful for. I am amazed that I have written this book in my golden years. If there is one thing I hope my story reminds others of, it is that it is never too late to learn, to grow, to accomplish something meaningful, or to share the experiences that have made us who we are.
