Even though the spatial space affiliates to both Istanbul and Haifa, between KadiKoy and Wadi Al-Nisnas, it is a story about Palestine under occupation and it encloses a brief review of different periods of the Palestinian history. In a heart aching scene, the occupation forces kill Nadia after she conceals the property deed from them, and so the house remains her property; the dispute over the house signifies a greater conflict which is the conflict over land and memory. But the scenery of her murder reverberates in the memory of her grandson, who alternates along with different voices in telling the story that's formed of the sum of the various voices of the grandfather, grandmother, grandson and others. The story does not comply with a traditional plot; it gets formed by a long monologue, interrupted by several conversations, most notably with the Israeli soldier. Part of the narrative is a restoration of the grandson's detention period. And in the grandson's meeting with the Israeli soldier, there is a bid to see who has the right versus who has the power. The novel's tone resembles the harsh reality experienced by the characters. Thus, the novel seeks to depict the psychological diaspora the Palestinian character suffers from.
