Learners' Proofreading and Its Impact on Identifying Writing Errors: Grammatical Mechanical Errors in

Proofreading, helps the learners to prevent too much mistakes and errors in their papers. It also reduces the costly mistakes in the learners' paper and improves the learners' self-confidence by enhancing the writings quality. By proofreading the papers, learners impress their readers through clarity of their writing. Proofreading helps to remove grammatical errors, misspelled words, and other mechanical errors such as capitalization and punctuation which may confuse the readers and divert the meaning of the writing in their mind. So, it makes the learner write clearly (Grenville, 2001, p.167-8). By rectifying through proofreading the learners show their competence in writing to their readers. Also, lack of errors creates a nice view toward the readers. Based on (Fry, 2002, p.74) too much error in the writing will reflect the writers' careless or incompetent, in the readers' mind. Then proofreading is a useful tool for enhancing the students' credibility and it is the last chance for cleaning and purifying a written paper from mistakes and errors.
