Learn West Flemish

This book is designed to help you feel more at ease with the language, whether you're chatting casually or speaking formally. West Flemish, a unique language rooted in the history and culture of West Flanders and its border areas of The Netherlands and Northern France, offers unique expressions and very distinctive sounds. We aim to give you some insight in the language and confidence to engage in conversations with native speakers. It is by no means complete or perfect, but it is written from the heart with the intention to pass on to the best of our ability, how we speak and make it accessible.Each chapter combines vocabulary, grammar tips, pronunciation guidance, and real-life dialogue examples. And to make things more interesting, we have added West Flemish cultural insights, traditions and recipes, to let you explore the stories of the language even further. So, whether you're a complete beginner, want to brush up on the language or just want to get a sense of what the language is about, this short course will help you step confidently into West Flemish conversations.
