This first in this series of books were greatly influential on the early church as much of the theological thought was still fresh in their thinking from the time of the apostles. Although much of this thought in some ways is outdated or newly discovered to be more accurate in some regards, it is often wise to heed the teachings of our early church fathers as many of the false teachings that are arising today were just as prevalent back then. Our advantage is that many of these writers successfully rebuffed and rebuked these teachings making us able to stand on a historical ground of truth to counter the re-emerging false teaching in the world today.
