This study explores the enhancement of surface properties of mild steel through laser cladding with nickel-chromium powder. Laser cladding is a technique that deposits material onto a substrate to improve its surface characteristics. In this research, mild steel samples were subjected to laser cladding with nickel-chromium powder, followed by comprehensive testing to evaluate changes in hardness, roughness, and wear resistance Hardness testing was conducted to assess the improvement in the mechanical properties of the clad layer compared to the base material. Surface roughness measurements provided insights into the changes in surface texture post-cladding, which are crucial for applications requiring precise surface finishes. Understanding the wear resistance is essential for predicting the material's performance in various operating conditions. The results obtained from these analyses provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of laser cladding with nickel-chromium powder in enhancing the surface properties of mild steel. This research contributes to the advancement of surface modification techniques, with potential applications in several industries.
