Just Short Of Too Late is a kinda-sorta sequel to Pint Of Bitter. It follows Macon Hughes, a detective in the Houston PD, as he makes his way thru a mid-life career. He visits the Montana Sky, a downtown, underground bar known mainly by the police force, which is enough to keep the bills paid and the force comfortable after work. At this time in his life his visits are for memory's sake and not playing pool. He does find female companionship to work on, as best he can under his past circumstances. He is slowly finding peace as well as solving murder cases.
