Jung, My Mother and I

Catharine (Katy) Cabot, a young American woman in Europe, was for many years a patient of C.G. Jung and she was also a part of his Zurich circle from the 1930's through the 1950's. She kept a diary, recording the details of her psychoanalytic sessions with Jung along with her inner and outer experiences. 'Onkel' (Uncle), as Jung was known to her, became an integral part of her life in those years and he, his family and their friends all figure prominently in her life story as it unfolds in these pages. The journals include descriptions of therapy sessions, interpretations of dreams, sketches, letters, fragments of dialogue and Katy's reflections on how her life was developing. There are stories from the famous Psychological Club of Zurich, the Eranos Conferences in Ascona and other historic occasions in the circle around Jung. This fascinating account provides a rare portrait of Jung's Zurich in those creative years and of the life of a unique individual as she - with the help of her psychoanalyst - coped with life's vicissitudes.
