Kristan and Stephen Crowell, in "Jesus' Simple Stories Reveal Kingdom Truths," are working to pull back the curtain on two occasions when Jesus was confronted by his usual detractors, the Pharisees. One issue Kristan and Stephen work to expose is how the experiences of Jesus' audience would have helped them to understand his message. Kristan and Stephen then use their understanding of Jesus' simple stories to build a bridge that helps modern-day readers gain a deeper understanding. In the first occasion, Jesus had been invited to have "A Dinner with a Pharisee." While there, he used the simple stories "The Wedding Banquet " and "The Great Dinner" to teach humility. Later, while "Traveling with Crowds/Pharisees," Jesus used the simple stories of Salt's Value, The Lost Sheep, and The Lost Coin to illustrate God's love for people and their esteemed worth.
