Jazz, TX

USA Today Bestseller A community's beating heart is often found in the most unlikely places. The story of Jazz, TX, is one of an underdog. When musician and entrepreneur Doc Watkins opened the San Antonio club in 2016, the "jazz club" represented a bygone era of simplicity, spaces, and shared community. The goal was to revitalize jazz and put the house back into hospitality. The result was a timeless sensory experience-one that fulfilled a craving people didn't even realize they had. In Jazz, TX, Doc provides a behind-the-scenes look at how one perfectly imperfect jazz club became a community's cornerstone by getting back to basics with human connection. Part memoir, part ode to jazz, part entrepreneurial playbook, this collection of anecdotes is an anthology of philosophies garnered from various artists, educators, and out-of-the-box business leaders. Entertaining, inspirational, and truly unique, Jazz, TX offers a peek behind the curtain at how a restaurant and venue became a unifying, legendary force.
