JANUS: A Pocket Universe Adventure

JANUS came to 1980 to save the future. Thirty-eight minutes later, the future was already behind schedule. Janus is a synthetic consciousness from a civilization that has mastered prediction, eliminated much of human suffering, and learned one dangerous lesson: there is no right or wrong. There are only actions and consequences. Sent into the past to alter history before humanity succeeds itself into a corner, Janus chooses an ordinary name: Joseph Mercer. Then everything goes wrong. Joseph understands quantum physics, collapsing civilizations, temporal causality, and how to build technologies that should not exist for decades. What he does not understand is coffee. Sarcasm. Cheeseburgers. Friendship. Love. Or why the irritating woman who walks into his motel room looking for a missing man is rapidly becoming more important than several million carefully modeled futures. Soon impossible messages are arriving from futures that may never have existed. History begins branching without Joseph's permission. Gods, machines, humans, and entire universes become harder to tell apart. And Joseph discovers the most dangerous possibility of all: Maybe the future was never waiting to be saved. Maybe we are creating it every time we decide what happens next. Darkly funny, profane, philosophical, and grounded in hard science, JANUS is a reality-bending time-travel and multiverse adventure about synthetic consciousness, reluctant friendship, found family, godhood, mortality, and the terrible responsibility of having enough power to change someone else's world. A Pocket Universe Adventure. Enter carefully. Reality may branch behind you.
