Information and communication technologies (ICT) have revolutionised the world. Indeed, from the second half of the 20th century onwards, they have developed at an exponential rate. We even speak of new information and communication technologies (NICTs). Their integration into modern society has brought about major transformations in both economic and cultural activities, leading to the concept of the 'information society'. It is in this context that the notion of the 'digital economy' has emerged. In the context of globalisation, economic and social development is the main challenge for Madagascar, with economic growth as the key indicator. It should be noted that the ICT sector plays a significant role in the pursuit of this growth. The aim of this research is to demonstrate that ICTs offer an alternative for improving performance across various sectors, as well as being an asset in the fight to reduce poverty in Madagascar.
