In the Beginning: Genesis Chapter 10: Shem, Eber, and Eastern Peoples

About This WorkIn the Beginning: Genesis Chapter 10 is a verse-by-verse study of the Table of Nations, the chapter that traces the families, clans, languages, lands, and nations that came from the sons of Noah after the flood. This work treats Genesis 10 as more than a list of ancient names. Each person, people group, place, and nation is studied as part of the larger biblical story. The chapter shows humanity beginning again after judgment, the spread of peoples across the earth, the rise of early kingdoms, and the line of Shem moving toward Eber, Abraham, Israel, and the promised Messiah. The study is written to be detailed, Scripture-centered, and careful. It gives attention to genealogy, geography, ancient background, textual witnesses, word meaning, historical setting, Jewish and Messianic context, and the theological importance of each verse. Where Scripture is clear, the study speaks clearly. Where Scripture is silent, it does not invent details. The goal of this work is to help the reader slow down over every name and every line, seeing that even the genealogies of Scripture are filled with meaning, memory, warning, mercy, and the sovereign ordering hand of God.
