Beschrijving
This intimate, conversational reader entwines Alessandra Sanguinetti’s photographic series The Adventures of Guille and Belinda with reflections on its making and evolution. Set against the rural landscapes of Buenos Aires Province, the work follows two cousins as they grow up, marking the shifting relationship to the project over time. The reader presents a long dialogue with Guille and Belinda, illustrated by previously unseen images gathered across the years, and is complemented by a conversation between Sanguinetti and the exhibition curators Clément Chéroux and Pierre Leyrat. Together, these conversations explore how the work engages with documentary photography, artistic collaboration, and the portrayal of girls and women worldwide. The reader accompanies a solo exhibition of Sanguinetti’s work at Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris, opening 30 January 2024. The book is published by Mack/art Paper and spans 60 pages in paperback.
Made over twenty-four years, the project retraces the life of two cousins evolving through daily rural life, reflecting on childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Guille and Belinda have long been collaborators and playmates in Sanguinetti’s process, shaping a world that sits between dream and reality.
The publication presents the dialogues alongside images collected throughout the years, offering a nuanced look at the artist’s approach to time, memory, and representation in photography.
