Little Paula has grown up amongst her parents in a entirely transparent world which she could perfectly understand. Very mature, she was able to analyse feelings and behaviours with mathematical logic. She could foresee everything and confidently evaluated her future. There were no secrets. Nevertheless, something was rotten in her ideal family: one evening, Paulas' mother left home without giving any explanations. Now Paula has reached adulthood and knows about the reasons for her mothers act. She knows that her mothers decision had been foreseeable. Human beings are very foreseeable. But is it useful to foresee everything? Her capacity of prevision is more and more embarrassing for Paula. How can one live without secrets? How can one live without a place to hide, without a mystery inside? Paula knows what she has to do to achieve a real personnel live, even if the price to pay is high. Sibylle Grimbert was born in Paris. Il n'y a pas de secret is her third novel, after Birth days (2000) and Le Centre de gravité (2002).
