I am a Dachshund

In I Am a Dachshund-part of the I Am a Dog series by Kimberlee Everson-Noodle the black-and-tan Dachshund and his imaginative friend Malik follow a missing squeaky hedgehog's scent "like lines on a page." The trail winds from living room to backyard and ends at a tight, shadowy gap beneath the shed-too snug for one small dog alone-where teamwork and gentle guidance turn worry into relief. Told in a warm first-dog voice, this picture book blends imaginative play with true-to-life canine behavior: scent-tracking, careful digging, and smart safety habits like using a ramp, soft paws in the garden, water breaks, and asking for help. Young readers will recognize big feelings-curiosity, frustration, courage-and see how patience and empathy lead to a happy ending. Back matter includes kid-friendly Dachshund facts: where the breed came from, why those paws are so powerful, coat types and voices, and simple scent games to try at home. For dog-loving kids ages 5-10 and the grown-ups who appreciate stories that connect wonder with real animal science.
