House Of Vows

In a city where every life is bound by unbreakable Vows, obedience is treated as survival. Elspeth has spent years enforcing the system and recording the lives it quietly erases. She believes in the rules, the order, and the lie that nobody can refuse. Until she finds the line of text the Houses buried: consent can be withdrawn. Now people are choosing to break their Vows, and many are dying for it. Hunted by the Houses and haunted by the names she has already lost, Elspeth joins a fragile underground network trying to make refusal survivable. With Cailean, who has spent his life inside the system's highest ranks, and Iomhar, a former enforcer learning to disobey his own body, she begins to rewrite what freedom could mean. But the truth is dangerous. Breaking a Vow is not simple liberation; it is a risk no one fully understands. When the Houses drag their work into the open, Elspeth must stand before the system she once served and prove that choice is worth the cost. House of Vows is a dark speculative fantasy about consent, bodily autonomy, institutional power, grief, and the people who build a resistance one refusal at a time.
