The edition offers extra-large reproductions, with several fold-outs, and presents a wide variety of subjects and techniques, from landscapes and road maps to illustrated books, shunga, drawing manuals, birds and flowers, and hanging scrolls. Each copy is bound in green or purple cloth, adding a distinctive tactile and visual element to this extensive scholarly and visual survey.

This edition emphasizes the artist’s creative phases, from early actor portraits to works produced in later life, and highlights both well-known pieces and lesser-known works that have rarely been reprinted.
