Tweevoudig Blues Grammy Award-winnaar Fantastic Negrito heeft zijn langverwachte derde album ‘Have You Lost Your Mind Yet?’ aangekondigd voor 14 augustus via Cooking Vinyl. ‘Have You Lost Your Mind Yet’ markeert het meest verreikende werk van Fantastic Negrito tot nu toe, waarbij elementen van hiphop, R&B, funk, soul en rock roll n roll tot een geheel eigen brandgevaarlijke synthese worden samengevoegd. Het album is geïnspireerd door en doet denken aan de sociaal-politieke albums die eind jaren zestig en in de jaren zeventig uit zwart-Amerika kwamen. Negrito onderzoekt de strijd en complexiteit van psychische problemen terwijl hij zijn langlopende onderzoek naar Amerika's steeds meer gebroken sociale en politieke situatie voortzet. “On the first two albums I wrote about broad topics,” Fantastic Negrito says. “The proliferations of gun violence, the evil NRA, gentrification and homelessness, pharmaceutical companies that prey upon the people. On this album I wanted to write about people I knew, people I grew up with, people whose lives I could personally affect, and whose lives have impacted me. It was the hardest album I’ve ever written.”
