From the moment you leave Jose Marti International Airport, the streets become a moving museum. Chevrolets, Buicks, Pontiacs, Fords, Plymouths and Dodges glide past, some restored and others patched together. >They are survivors, symbols of Cuba's resilience and storytellers of history on wheels. Over eight years and countless walks through Old and Centro Havana, Vedado and along the Malecon I created over 7000 images. For me, the cars stirred personal memories of my father's vehicles in the 1950's and 60's. This book is not only a photographic record but a narrative into how these cars arrived, why they endured and how they continue to define Havana's identity.
