HALCON DE AL ANDALUS, EL

In the rocky, dusty desert of Jordan lies the enigmatic Qusayr Amra, one of the Umayyad dynasty's desert palaces, famous for its exceptional frescoes. Among them is the one known as the Fresco of the Six Kings, which depicts rulers from various kingdoms at the dawn of the 8th century, such as the Byzantine emperor or the Sassanid ruler. But it is the image of Rodrigo, king of the Visigoths of Spain, that is the most enigmatic, for, although he was defeated and killed at the Battle of Guadalete by the Muslim conquerors in the year 711, his image appears in this lavish palace built later... It is into this dark and nebulous historical narrative that this novel plunges, starring the enigmatic figure of Abd al-Rahman al-Dajil ("the Emigrant"), who, upon discovering the family ties that bind him to Rodrigo, embarks on a fantastical adventure that propels him to the distant and chaotic al-Andalus, where his roots lie, and where he feels destiny calling him to be its rightful ruler.
