Gold Rush: The Great Heist

In gold-rush Victoria, a newborn colony struggles to keep pace with the wealth pouring from its fields. As Melbourne grows richer, louder and more divided, Detective Matheson, his quick-eyed partner Webb, and journalist Nell Hart begin to see that the colony's most dangerous crimes are not always committed by the men who carry pistols in the dark. Behind public robberies, private grievances and respectable drawing-room manners, hidden connections begin to form around the movement of gold. Inspired by the real Nelson robbery of 1852 and the McIvor gold escort robbery of 1853, Gold Rush: The Great Heist follows a colony learning that fortune creates opportunity, fear and corruption in equal measure. At its centre are people divided by loyalty, ambition, class and conscience, each forced to decide what justice means when proof is scarce, gold is everywhere, and the truth may be protected by the very society that claims to seek it.
