Die Pastoralkonstitution Gaudium et spes gehört zu den wirkmächtigsten Texten des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils (1962–1965), dessen Impulse auch im 21. Jahrhundert fortwirken. Gaudium et spes verschränkt katholische Glaubenslehre und Ethik in einer Weise, die nicht etwa nach dem Modell von Grundlegung und praktischer Anwendung zu beschreiben ist.
