Gathering Storm

Every duty carries a cost. Some carry everything.Captain Scott Stevens survives the crash that kills his wife and three children - and doesn't know how to survive what comes after. When his year of medical leave brings him to Hong Kong to stay with his sister's family, he expects grief, not purpose. He doesn't expect a government tightening its grip on the city, one permit denial at a time, until the people he's just learned to love again are trapped inside it.As Hong Kong seals its borders and the family closes ranks around a secret worth dying for, Scott has one narrow window and no authority to use it. What he built as a Marine intelligence officer, he'll have to use as a civilian - reading patterns, buying minutes, running a family through a closing city before the last door shuts for good.Gathering Storm is a thriller about the family we're given and the family we choose to save - and what a man is willing to become when duty and love finally ask for the same thing.
