Bol Manufacturing a component is the most basic and the most vital prerequisite to producing a finished product. This could be done in several ways of which additive manufacturing is one. Additive manufacturing is the antipodal of conventional subtractive manufacturing wherein the material is removed from the workpiece. There are many methods in additive manufacturing, fused deposition modelling or fused filament fabrication is one of them. Fused deposition modelling (FDM) predominantly uses a filament that on getting exposed to higher temperatures melts and solidifies to form a layer. This process continues till the final product is formed. There are a lot of filaments that are being used in the market and each has its advantage over the other depending on the application and the monetary restrictions. PLA (polylactic acid), ABS, and PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) are the most widely used filaments for the FDM machine. In this current study, efforts have been made to conduct experimental analysis and optimize the process parameters of the machine to print components using both PLA and PETG and compare both the materials.
