Fucking High School

Fucking High School is a coming-of-age story set in southwest Atlanta in the spring of 2001, in that thin stretch between spring break and graduation.Dez, Angel, Malik, Jai, and Nikki are eighteen and already running out of time. Some of them are out. Some of them are still hiding a Nextel under a sweater. Some of them have houses full of Bibles and porcelain Jesus. All of them are trying to live one honest week before the city, college, work, or a Greyhound ticket pulls the five of them apart. There are cliques and bullies and church fans. There is a note on the back of a Sunday program. There is a party that gets too big. There is a Polaroid nobody posed for.Written for readers who lived that era and for readers who need to feel how it actually was - urban, queer, messy, tender, and loud. A Stories That Stay book.
