When he turns to journalist Alice Whittaker, he finds someone already following the same pattern. Together, they begin to uncover a Blackpool that is being rewritten around them. Evidence disappears. The past should be fixed. It isn't. As the disturbances spread, Mick and Alice must work out what connects the two periods before the evidence changes again and before they become part of what has been forgotten.
