Fox the Fair Judge: A Shona Folktale from Zimbabwe

"Dzepfunde!" Around the fire in Granny's hut, tonight's tale begins. Leopard is caught in a hunter's snare, and only one kind man will stop to help him. But the moment Leopard is free, he wants to eat his rescuer! The Path says: let him. A stranger says: let him. Even the Cow says: let him. Then, out of the bush trots Fox - the cleverest judge in all the land. A trickster tale of kindness, gratitude and justice from the Shona oral tradition of Zimbabwe, retold by Zimbabwean storyteller Rudo Moyo exactly as his grandmother performed it around the fire. This full-colour picture-book edition pairs every page with a richly detailed illustration, and includes the storyteller's call-and-response and a Little Shona Glossary for young readers. Perfect for reading aloud, ages 6-10, and for anyone who loves Africa's oral storytelling tradition. Stories from Granny - Tale One
