Dalton is great at many things: nosy neighbors, highly specific opinions, and turning minor logistical issues into full-community events. So when a storm-readiness drill brings former Air Force medevac pilot Jett Jones to town, he expects bad planning, uneven execution, and at least one avoidable communications problem. What he does not expect is Tanner Teller-the polished, maddeningly competent banker managing Dalton's resilience funding with terrifying efficiency and an answer for everything. Jett believes emergency planning should be practical, flexible, and built for real-world failure. Tanner believes if something matters, it should be documented, funded, and able to survive scrutiny. Their priorities clash almost immediately, and Dalton, naturally, decides this means they should be forced to work together as often as possible.
