Five LettersAccording to the ancient Mayan calendar, the world was supposed to end on December 21, 2012.Well, it didn't-at least not for everyone. But it did for my father, airline Captain Conrad Alexander, who died in a fiery crash on that day, on the other side of the world. And he left five letters in his safe-deposit box for my stepmom to discover-and for me to deliver-to women who apparently had some importance in his life.Important enough for him to try to reach from the grave.I recognized a couple of the names on the sealed envelopes, but not all of them. And, of course, the women were scattered across the nation. This was going to take more than a little time. I guess he forgot that I have a life of my own.But being the dutiful son, I took off from work and set out to fulfill his last request.The journey was harder than I thought it would be...
