While working on a big, difficult book for grownups on big ideas, Klaus came up with the idea of writing a simple, short book on the same topics, addressed to himself - back in 1966, at the age of eight. This is how and why he wrote it: "Almost every sentence in this little book was guided by asking: How can my adult knowledge best be formulated in clear, simple language I would have understood at the age of eight? What do I now, as a mature adult, dearly wish I had known back then - which could have helped me in my following years? What could I have benefited from of philosophical ideas in my youth - until I could read big, difficult books for grownups?" This little book contains old Klaus' explanations to his young self.
